Difference between the two levels
Level ZERO is an affordable access point to work on this project. Arduino will be used for the logic controls, programming can be in C or Lader logic. The HMI is a maker-level display and discrete buttons for input. From this point, future logic and HMI can be developed using Level ZERO as a reference.
Level ONE elevates the project to one that can be extended directly into a rolling chaise. Using industrial-grade PLC and HMI solutions. HMI to involve touch and discrete buttons. Future development can include expanding the logic and creation of a vehicle.
Difference between the two levels
Level TWO is the solution for a motorcycle conversion. This presents special problems with component size and packaging. Mounting options will need to be developed for a specific chaise. Future development will be restricted by available space.
Level THREE is the solution for a motor trike. This chaise provides a larger vehicle to house components and future development. The stability of the chaise allows for more flexibility in rider selection for testing.
Why I Want This Project
The build-out of this project brings together many different interests and skills of my. I have spent a couple of years working on lower-power E-bikes. Diagnosing and repairing them. At times making custom components. Since then I have become a motorcyclist and working towards becoming an automation & integration expert.
This project will test some of my abilities. The sheer amount of work in component selection does not grant much time for all the programming required. The drawing and building of the fixturing will push me up against the edge of the window to deliver this project. I will have to work accurately and with good documentation to perform the brief amount of troubleshooting, I will have time for.
I am excited and looking forward to taking on this challenge. The skills and knowledge I develop will be the first step to performing integration work out of Fanshawe.
